ALBA Farmer Sergio Jimenez

“I really like the organic philosophy where you can grow food without damaging the soil” Sergio Jimenez learned about ALBA's Farmer Education Program when he was searching online about local opportunities to improve his farming experience. All he knew about farming he learned in his early years next to his father working his families three acre farm in Ayoquesco, in the state of Oaxaca Mexico. After graduation, he leased two acres from ALBA where he began growing twenty different vegetables including leeks, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, and a variety of leafy greens. In 2014 Sergio rented 5.5 acres at the Triple M Ranch near Watsonville, where ALBA's location for it's most experienced farmers.
