ALBA Farmers Rufino and Belen Ventura

In 2015 Rufino Ventura and his wife Belen, will be farming 3.5 acres in ALBA’s Rural Development Center. Their crop plan includes strawberries, cilantro, squash, red and gold beets, and leafy greens. The Ventura's heard about ALBA in 2010, and Rufino began taking ALBA classes while working full time at a company where he had harvested lettuces for 11 years. After taking classes in 2011 Rufino graduated from ALBA’s Rural Farmer Education Program and grew his family farm business from a half an acre to 3.5 acres today and providing jobs for Rufino’s brother and two more employees.
